Dale C. Flanders, Ph.D.
President and CEO, Chairman of the Board
One of Axsun's founders, Dr. Flanders joined Axsun from Lasertron, Inc,
where he served in several key technical roles, including Vice President
of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer from 1985 to 1998. Prior
to Lasertron, he performed research at Bell Labs and at MIT's Lincoln
Laboratory. Dr. Flanders received a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical
Engineering from MIT, and is the holder of 40 patents. |

Dr.
Peter S. Whitney
Chief Scientist, Co-Founder
Dr. Whitney co-founded Axsun after working at Lasertron, Inc.,
where he was Director of Engineering responsible for development of packaging
technologies
and for development of the 980nm pump laser product line. Prior to Lasertron,
he was employed as a research scientist for Nippon Telegraph and Telephone
in Japan. Dr. Whitney holds a BSEE from Princeton University and a Ph.D.
in Materials Science from MIT. Dr. Whitney also holds numerous patents
in the areas of MEMS devices, as well as opto-electronic packaging and
assembly.
L. James Newman III
Vice President, Manufacturing and Product Engineering
Mr. Newman joined Axsun from Active Control eXperts where he was Vice
President of Engineering and Manufacturing Operations. Prior to ACX,
he served as Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Analog Devices, a mixed
signal semiconductor device manufacturer. Mr. Newman earned B.A. and
B.E. degrees in Engineering from Dartmouth College, and a M.S. degree
from MIT's Sloan School of Management. He holds two patents. |
Randal A. Murdza
Director Engineering
Mr. Murdza joined Axsun Technologies in 2000 from Lasertron, Inc., where he held
the position of Technical Operations Manager. He brings 15 years of Photonics
Industry experience in the areas of Test & Measurement, Development and Software
Engineering. Prior to Lasertron, he was employed as a Software Engineer for Computervision
Corp. and RCA Automated Systems. Mr. Murdza holds an MSEE from Northeastern University
and a BSEE. from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. He holds 5 patents
in the Photonics industry.
Bill Ahern
Director Marketing
Mr. Ahern joined Axsun from Lasertron Inc., where he was Director of Marketing
for Transmission Products. Prior to Lasertron Inc., Mr. Ahern spent 13 years
at Analog Devices, Inc, a leading mixed signal semiconductor device manufacturer,
in various Technical and Marketing roles. Mr. Ahern holds a BSEE from Wentworth
Institute of Technology and an MBA from Suffolk University.
Steve Harris
Electro Scientific Industries, Inc.
Vice President of Research, Development, & Engineering
Mr. Harris joined ESI in 1997 as a Senior Engineering Manager and was named
Director of Central Engineering in 2000. He was elected Vice President of
Research, Development, & Engineering in 2004. Prior to joining ESI, he
held a number of engineering management positions at Tektronix, Inc. where
he worked from 1984 to 1997.
Geoff Mott
Vantage Point Venture Partners
Geoff has been involved in the high-tech industry for 25 years as a consultant
and entrepreneur in sectors ranging from sectors optical components and
telecom systems to enterprise software. As a member of the Information
Technology Group focused on communications and wireless technologies,
he brings extensive experience working with entrepreneurs to develop
successful corporate, product and market strategies, commercial partnerships,
and operational plans. Prior to joining VantagePoint, Geoff was the Managing
Partner of The McKenna Group and earlier in his career built a business
strategy practice for technology firms at Lochridge & Co., where
he was heavily involved in global telecom deregulation. Geoff is a graduate
of Oxford University, England (BA and MA) and of MIT's Sloan School of
Management (SM Management degree). |
William Seifert
Prism VentureWorks
Mr. Seifert is an entrepreneur with over 23 years of experience in the
data communications industry. Before joining Prism in 1999, he was the
founder and CEO of Agile Networks Inc. Prior to founding Agile, he was
a co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of Wellfleet Communications. |
Fred
Leonberger
Principal of EOvation Technologies LLC
Fred Leonberger is the Principal of EOvation Technologies LLC, a technology
and business advisory firm. He serves on the Board of Directors and/or
Advisors for a number of photonics companies, and is a Senior Advisor
at the MIT Center for Integrated Photonic Systems (CIPS).
Dr.
Leonberger previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief
Technology Officer
of JDS Uniphase (JDSU), a leading optical components supplier. He was
also a co-founder and General Manager of UTP, an optical modulator
company, and has held management positions at MIT Lincoln Laboratory
and United
Technologies Research Center. He received a BSE from the University
of Michigan and a SM and PhD from MIT.
