AXSUN TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES THREE
COMMERCIAL AGREEMENTS TO MANUFACTURE OPTICAL COMPONENTS
Billerica, MA, October 25, 2001 — AXSUN Technologies Inc., a manufacturer
of agile photonic subsystems, today announced three commercial
supply agreements to develop, qualify, and manufacture optical
components targeted at metropolitan Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing
(DWDM) and other telecommunications markets. The components are
being packaged in cooled, hermetically sealed, industry standard
packages. All three products will be qualified to stringent Telcordia
standards.
The AXSUN® universal photonic integration packaging platform
demonstrates world-class performance in optical alignment, cost
and scalability of manufacturing. The platform offers breakthrough
levels of alignment precision, automation and functional integration.
The platform is also applicable to other packages such as un-cooled
mini-DIL and configurations requiring multiple fiber feedthroughs.
"These orders from U.S. and European based companies validate
the AXSUN® integration platform in the optical communications
marketplace," stated
Dr. Dale C. Flanders, President and CEO of AXSUN Technologies. "The
AXSUN® universal photonic integration packaging platform gives
our customers a competitive advantage by enabling them to accelerate
time to market with a Telcordia qualified component, while simultaneously
lowering their capital investment and program risk." The agreements
are worth several million dollars and extend into 2003.
