AXSUN
Technologies Announces New Optical Monitor Product and Product
Family Qualification
Atlanta, GA, March 24, 2003 — AXSUN Technologies Inc., a
leading developer and manufacturer of advanced photonic components
and subsystems, today announced the introduction of the OM2 optical
monitor, the latest member of the industry leading OMx optical
monitor family. The company also announced successful completion
of Telcordia qualification testing of the entire OMx product line.
The AXSUN OMx product family offers the industry’s most comprehensive
range of optical monitors, with functionality ranging from optical
amplifier gain tilt monitors, to embedded optical spectrum analyzers.
OM2, the most recent addition to the OMx family, is a compatible
replacement for several industry standard dual port RAM Optical
Monitors in use today. The OM2 allows customers to take advantage
of all the performance benefits of the AXSUN OMx family, without
the additional investment of developing a unique PC board.
"The OM2 product demonstrates the best wavelength accuracy
in a size compatible with products many of our customers are shipping
today," stated Dr. Dale Flanders, VP of engineering and CTO
of AXSUN Technologies. "This product builds on the momentum
established by our OMx product family."
AXSUN also announced today that the OMx monitor family has successfully
completed Telcordia qualification testing, ensuring a highly reliable,
telecom grade optical product. The AXSUN OMx family has met or
exceeded both relevant Telcordia standards for Optoelectronic modules:
- GR-468-CORE, "Reliability Assurance Requirements for
Optoelectronic Devices
Used in Telecommunications Equipment"
- GR-63-CORE, "Network Equipment — Building System
Requirements: Physical
Protection".
"Our customers rely on Telcordia standards to ensure system reliability,"
Petros
Kotidis, AXSUN VP of Marketing and Business Development explains. "Successfully
completing this testing ensures that not only the OMx family, but also that the
two key OMx components, the MEMs tunable filter based optical module, and the
electronic subsystem are highly reliable."
AXSUN will conduct live demonstrations of the OMx product family at Booth 7972
at the Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) conference in Atlanta, GA March 25-27.
