TECHNOLOGIES TO SUPPLY OPTICAL MONITORS TO LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES
Billerica, MA, May 20, 2003 — AXSUN Technologies Inc., a
leading developer and manufacturer of advanced photonic components
and subsystems, today announced an agreement to supply optical
monitors for Lucent Technologies' Metropolis® systems.
AXSUN OMx monitors will provide real-time monitoring of optical
signal integrity in Lucent’s Metropolis® Enhanced Optical
Networking (EON) dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM)
system.
Less than one-tenth the size of optical monitor solutions based
on bulk optics, the AXSUN OMx monitor’s small form factor
enables system manufacturers to embed physical layer monitoring
within existing network elements, providing ongoing assurance of
optical performance to facilitate network fault management and
signal routing. Lucent's Metropolis® EON provides a low-cost
flexible platform with up to 320Gb/s of transmission bandwidth,
supporting current and future capacity needs in Metropolitan and
Access networks. By integrating AXSUN OMx monitors, Lucent’s
customers can monitor optical integrity of the large amounts of
data used in these systems, equivalent to five million telephone
and Internet connections.
