AXSUN TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES NEW FAMILY OF ADVANCED TUNABLE FILTER COMPONENTS

Billerica, MA, June 3, 2003 — AXSUN Technologies Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced photonic components and subsystems, today announced the availability of the AcuTune (TM) tunable filter product family. Based on AXSUN Technologies’ industry-leading optical platform technology, AcuTune tunable filters offer the industry’s most advanced filter performance, but are small enough to seamlessly integrate with today’s electronic systems.

"Tunable filters are not only poised to be a key building block for reconfigurable optical networks, but are finding equally strong potential in test and measurement equipment," said Marlene Bourne, Senior Analyst with In-Stat/ MDR. "These tunable filters are a logical extension of AXSUN's optical component expertise."

AcuTune tunable filters provide high-resolution tunable filter capabilities, with more integrated functionality in small VLSI-size packages. Because AcuTune tunable filters are based on the same technology used in AXSUN’s Telcordia-qualified optical monitor products, customers are assured of reliable operation.

"Many companies developing products in telecommunications and test and measurement markets, need tunable optical filters that are easy to integrate with electronics,” explained Bob Hughes, vice president of worldwide sales at AXSUN Technologies. “With AXSUN’s integrated solution, customers can reduce the overall design footprint and eliminate the additional labor required to connect other optical devices.”

AXSUN is currently shipping AcuTune tunable filters with component evaluation boards and software to several early customers.
