Fab and Sub-Assembly Supervisor

Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing the team that fabricates the wafers and sub-assemblies that are used in our module assembly process. The individual that fills this position will be responsible for meeting quality, cost, delivery and safety objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with schedule and cost factors.

  • Insures that all team members are adequately trained and follow the released work instructions.

  • Coordinates the production schedule to insure that all Kanban’s are adequately stocked and meet schedule requirements

  • Drives a continuous improvement philosophy to improve quality, efficiency and output

  • Works with the manufacturing engineers to address issues and improve overall product quality

  • Revises production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment or operating problems

  • Responsible for the accuracy of raw and in process material in the fab and subassembly production areas.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years experience as a production supervisor or group leader in a high tech environment

  • 3-5 years experience working at an operator level in a fab

  • An associate’s degree in management or technology

  • Fundamental knowledge of ERP systems; Microsoft AX would be a plus

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Candidate should have strong work ethic, initiative, adaptability; he/she should be detail oriented and be able to work in a team.

Sales Manager – Telecom OEM and OCT Research Products

Job Summary

The Sales Manager will manage existing accounts in our Telecom business and drive revenue with existing and new research customers in our fast growing Medical Imaging business.  In this role you will establish relationships with existing customers, and identify and prospect for new customers to maximize revenue for the product lines.  You will be a critical link between Axsun’s current and potential customers globally and its product development, manufacturing, product management and finance functions. 

Responsibilities

  • Establish a strong outbound sales effort in the OCT imaging research market and convert leads, prospects and RFQs into closed sales
  • Work closely with product management and engineering to understand the technology and products and articulate Axsun’s competitive advantage and value proposition to targeted accounts
  • Work closely with customers to understand demand and their current and evolving needs
  • Manage existing Telecom customers order intake, and forecasts and communicate and manage proactively with the Axsun operations team
  • Develop account plans to maximize the opportunity in assigned customers
  • Build relationships with key opinion leaders and potential customers to understand and anticipate their needs and provide input to Axsun’s product development initiatives
  • Apply technical expertise, industry experience, and knowledge of Axsun’s product capabilities to help identify potential new product opportunities
  • Develop, deliver, and manage presentations supporting key messages and the positioning of Axsun’s value proposition
  • Manage the customer relationship, including post-sales support.  Address customer’s ongoing needs with incremental product changes.  Communicate reliability and performance data for change approval and new product design-ins

Knowledge and Experience

  • BS, preferably in science or engineering
  • 3-5 years’ experience selling high value optical products to laboratory or OEM applications in medical imaging or Telecom applications
  • Proven success selling to technical organizations and growing sales
  • Proven success taking a new technology to market
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Proficient in MS Office

Desirable Qualification

  • Experience in medical imaging (preferably Optical Coherence Tomography)  or Telecom component or module OEM sales highly desirable
  • Proven communications skills at all levels of customers
  • Experience with CRM software a plus

Process Engineer – MEMs / Micro-Optics Device Fabrication

Job Summary

Reporting into Manufacturing but working closely with Design Engineering the individual filling this role is responsible for understanding performance factors and reliability of our proprietary MEMS tunable filter and passive micro-optics as they relate to fabrication processes and various elements of design. The scope of responsibility centers on device fabrication (MEMs or semiconductor processing familiarity) and characterization (understanding metrology and testing) along with data tracking & analysis and recommendations for continuous yield enhancement and cost reduction.

The position is hands-on and requires a high degree of cross-functional collaboration and teamwork both as a project leader as well as an individual team contributor.

 Responsibilities

  • Implement, document and maintain in-process routings, work instructions, tests & specifications for MEMs and micro-optics fabrication processes.
  • Analyze correlations between performance (functional testing) and processes (metrology data, process conditions and/or process variation) throughout the entire value stream.
  • Track variation and process capability throughout the value stream, identify and prioritize continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Understand yield/cost relationships & drivers, including material cost and the impact of driving losses to earlier points in the value stream.
  • Design and coordinate experiments for specification generation / revision and modeling compliance (specification flow-down analysis).
  • Responsible for scrap dispositions and associated corrective actions.
  • Review new specifications and analyze requirements against existing capabilities to estimate costs and yields for new products and applications.

Qualifications

  • BS, MS or PhD in a related engineering discipline.
  • 5 years engineering experience with Si wafer fabrication processes; MEMS device fabrication highly desired.
  • Strong working knowledge of optics, optical MEMS devices or optoelectronic device processing.
  • Demonstrated strength in statistical analysis. Strong DOE or process characterization experience a plus.
  • 5 years experience with electro-optical testing, data access and manipulation tools.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Formal project management experience a plus.

Senior Systems Engineer – Swept Source Engines

Job Summary

In this role you will make vital contributions to our cutting-edge products in the rapidly growing field of Optical Coherence Tomography Medical Imaging for ophthalmology, cardiology, dermatology, and cancer detection.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis and design of complex optical, electro-mechanical systems with a focus on swept source engines for Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
  • Develop and demonstrate feasibility of novel concepts in swept lasers, OCT, and related optical imaging technologies
  • Work closely with cross functional teams to define, test, and validate system level specifications to meet customer requirements
  • Perform data analysis, compare numerical predictions and experimental results, present findings and review results and trends with the Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
  • Support transfer of new products from R&D to manufacturing
  • Develop, automate, and code new production tests
  • Participate in/Lead the product development process, including gate reviews, training, documentation, and transfer to manufacturing

Knowledge and Experience

  • In-depth educational and/or professional experience in electro-optics related fields such as lasers, fiber optics, detectors, low noise analog electronics and digital signal processing algorithms
  • Direct experience with the design and implementation of optical interferometric systems, OCT, and/or swept-source laser
  • Hands-on lab skills with optical equipment such as optical spectrum analyzers (OSAs), oscilloscopes, power meters, fiber optics, and high speed data acquisition.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and troubleshoot analog and digital circuits
  • Solid problem solving methodology based on design of experiment, characterization and thorough data analysis
  • Proficiency in LABVIEW and MATLAB to support experimentation and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of other high level programming languages (C/C++, C#, VB, Python) a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as, strong organizational skills with superior attention to detail are required

Principal Assembly Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary

Plans, organizes and directs manufacturing engineering projects & efforts to meet company objectives for cost, efficiency, product yields and on-time delivery. Manufacturing DFM representative for new product development. Manufacturing lead for product transitions to manufacturing with respect to readiness assessment, process capability assurance and product maturation planning and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the direction and daily management of all manufacturing engineering efforts and planning for Axsun assembly operations
  • Broad expertise or unique knowledge of micro-assembly or optical module manufacturing processes for multiple products lines. Uses professional knowledge in developing process resolutions. Subject matter expert in micro-assembly technology
  • Identifies success-limiting manufacturing issues, forms and leads teams positively impacting manufacturing and overarching processes
  • Establishes, leads and/or approves action plans in (FMEA) and root cause analysis
  • Define focus areas for cross functional teams and drives the implementation of product/material/process improvements related to assembly operations
  • Assists in design of new products, contributing a strong DFM perspective
  • Assists in design and implementation of new technology including new approaches to tooling, fixturing and processes
  • Acts independently as well as lead teams to proactively address and prevent the need for corrective actions
  • Work on large size projects with no supervision
  • Broad expertise or unique knowledge uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways
  • Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contribute to the development of new principles and concepts

Requirements

 

  • Requires Master’s degree or equivalent in ME, EE, IE, OE, Physics or other relevant field
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, high and low volume production lines, preferably in the field of optical module assembly
  • Proven experience in leading others with a proactive attitude
  • Strong knowledge of DOE and/or other advanced process improvement tools a definite plus
  • Experience in Project Management tools and principals required
