Axsun NIR IntegraSpec™ Analyzer Wins R&D 100 Award
Billerica, MA, August 9, 2005 – Axsun Technologies, Inc., a leading manufacturer of micro-optoelectronic products that improve quality, performance, and productivity in a variety of industries, has been notified that the Axsun NIR (Near Infrared) IntegraSpec Analyzer has been selected as one of the 2005 Top 100 new products by R&D magazine. D escribed as "the Oscars of Invention" by The Chicago Tribune , theprestigious R&D 100 Awards have been recognizing excellence in innovation for 42 years.
The award, selected by an independent panel of judges and the editors of R&D Magazine, "provides a mark of excellence known to industry, government, and academia as proof that the product is one of the most innovative ideas of the year," explained the magazine's Editor-in-Chief, Tim Studt.
IntegraSpec Analyzer products address a broad range of NIR spectroscopic process applications, monitoring vapor, liquids, and solids. Based on a miniature NIR spectrometer platform with a tunable laser-based light source, integrated wavelength and amplitude references, and detector, semiconductor manufacturing techniques produce a uniform product, ensuring rapid calibration transfer from instrument to instrument.
“Our NIR IntegraSpec Analyzers enable manufacturing companies to take NIR methods out of the lab and use them in the process environment,” explained Jack Kay, Axsun’s President and CEO. Kay continued, “For most manufacturing companies today, the full capabilities of NIR spectroscopy are simply not available in the process chain. They have to either take samples to the lab, or use reduced functionality solutions on-line. IntegraSpec micro-spectrometers give companies the best of both, laboratory performance, with the ruggedness and reliability of an on-line sensor. Axsun’s NIR IntegraSpec Analyzer is the bridge, allowing companies to quickly prove the usefulness of NIR in the lab, before moving the method to the production floor.”
Axsun's IntegraSpec Analyzers are in worldwide use by companies in the pharmaceutical, petrochemical, oil and gas, and other industries where utilization, yield and safety are paramount concerns.
